Training for All
An Insight to BSJA Training
Training is vital to the improvement of the horse and rider. Until training becomes part of a daily routine we will not begin to improve ourselves and our horses. This does not mean we need a lesson everyday but riders need to discipline themselves to ride correctly when the trainer is not there. This in turn will produce the results we are all striving to achieve.
The following illustrates the structure a coach works with to deliver a BSJA training session:
- Presentation/Discipline - Riders must ensure they arrive on time, be prepared for the lesson (mentally and physically) and be correctly dressed (horse and rider - hat, boots, safe tack)
- Assessment of horse & rider
- Work on rider
- Work on horse
- Work on the rider and horse partnership
- Understanding of riding a course
- Unwinding and evaluation
Area 44 will run "normal Area" based training as well as running training for the BSJA Five Star Performance Awards. For more information on the Five Star system please click here. If you are unable to download this file you will have to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.
